Scooter's New Stainless Steel Cage

For years Scooter has had a wonderful, large, roomy, California Cage we purchased from "Chippy the Pirate" in Fort Lauderdale about 7 years ago. Recently we were at Golden Cockatoo here in Deerfield Beach checking out some bird food and supplies and looking for a new cage for either Tashy bird or little Squirt. We were speaking with Richard Horvits, owner of GC, about his stainless steel line of cages that he has manufactured for the store and he made us an offer we could not refuse so we purchased our very first stainless steel cage thinking that either Tashy Bird  or Squirt would be the resident.

We took the two boxes home and carefully opened them, washed the parts, and put them together (some assembly required) and waited for the new shiny Quaker home to dry. As hot as the sun was that day it didn't take long to dry and I wiped the dried spots off and easily rolled the new abode into the aviary.

Expectedly there was a lot of flurry from 6 quakers a couple Rosellas and an Amazon as they gave me and that silver thing in the middle of their room the evil "one eye". About the time a little quiet returned to the room I reached over to pick up Tashy to introduce her to the new "digs" (earlier my wife and I decided to let whoever liked the cage and selected it themselves to move in) when Scooter hopped on my shoulder and then hopped right onto the cage sitting in the middle of the floor. My wife and I looked at each other with a "well that was totally unexpected" look.

It's funny, Scooter never likes cages, he thinks he is a human and should never even be invited to stay in a jail like, yet 5 star hotel every night.  This day he jumped right into that cage and made himself right at home. He even strutted a little bit as if to say, "mine"! Funny little creatures, we always thought he just didn't care for cages when all the time he wanted a shiny stainless steel cage. He's quite satisfied now and even goes into his new home without having to be treated like a four year old trying to stay up to watch late night TV.

The photo below is Scooter inviting you to step in and take a look at his new home. He really likes it and we're extremely pleased with it's construction and workmanship. When we can afford another one we'll make another pilgrimage to GC.  Enjoy
