Oliver's Home Perch
Hi, my name is Jill and here is Oliver, my very animated Quaker...He is 8 years old. Oliver came to live with me after my roommate gave him up after determining that he was a little to messy for her to keep clean. At the time, I had Rascal the tiel and we traded a tiel for a quaker parrot.
Oliver is a fun bird! His first words were "What cha doin"? Then from there he started saying and doing everything you say..he coughs, sneezes, sniffs, makes a finger snapping noise, sings, dances, laughs, yells "Let me out"!!, says, I love you, Whats a matter, hey, you talkin to me?, MAMA, what ya doin baby love?, woo-hoo, you be nice to mama, OUCH!, no,no,no!, pretty bird, Oliver, hello, hi, here, kitty kitty kitty, meow, gotta go night night, gotta go bye bye, kiss kiss, makes kissing sounds, youre my big, boy, etc... A couple months ago he got a taste of freedom, it took almost hours to get him back (his wings were not clipped). He is very much into dancing...he lives for it!! As
soon as you turn the music on he starts dancing, turning circles, flapping wings a little
and singing (off tune) and saying "Woo-Hoo, and makes the snapping fingers sound. One
of my friends visits and without music even, he starts dancing and trys to fly to her, if
I intercept, he goes around me to get to her!! He loves broccoli to eat along with apples, cheese, crackers, and banana's. He eats small hookbill food, he also likes honey sticks (he loves those), and little fruit loop things, but doesnt eat alot of them. He has a toy that is made up of raw-hide, beads, leather and a bell at
the end...this is his girlfriend/security and bedtime partner he snggles with. You touch
it and he will bite your hand off!! he has a plastic chain that he fights with and plays
with alot, anything with a bell seems to be his favorite. he has a fake bird he likes
also. he loves hair, anytime you get him near your hair, he presses his beak against you
and kisses you. He is always kissing my computer mouse...weird, I know! he LOVES a bath, he has a cage wich has a play area at the top, his bath is there and he drenches himself in it....he also loves to be squirted with a squirt bottle. he sees you coming with it and goes crazy. When he goes night night, he starts saying it around 9pm, hes ready! So I do the routine and he gets so excited to go night night, we talk a couple minutes and we go to bed.
