A black footed Quaker Parrot is probably not
considered a new sub-species but I think it's a bit unusual, especially
in the wild of Florida. This little fellow was spotted and photographed
on Long Boat Key just outside of Sarasota Florida on Jan. 14, 2005. His toes
and nails are jet black, they almost look like they are one unit. Most
Quakers have lighter feet with dark or very white cracks.
From time to time I do have a bit of fun with altered
photos but this one has not been altered except to actually get it ready
for the web, normal stuff, it's a real picture.
If you have a quaker parrot with jet black feet,
black cracks and pronounced yellow eye iris please contact me, I would
like to hear about him or see photos . Thanks
